The Audi Q2 is a desirable and fine-driving small SUV with an impressive interior. It also has one of the best infotainment systems in the class. Yes, there are cheaper alternatives, but Audi's smallest SUV justifies its cost with its superb all-round ability. If you buy one, we recommend the 35 TFSI petrol engine with entry-level Sport trim.

The kitchen sink variety of SQ2 comes with adaptive suspension, a panoramic glass roof, Nappa leather, heated front seats, LED matrix headlights and a fancy Bang & Olufsen sound system; alongside some more practical extras such as a more flexible 40:20:40 split folding rear bench, speed limit recognition software, blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert. Trouble is, this version pushes the price up towards some faster and more entertaining sports SUVs, so we’d stick with the standard SQ2.

Thanks to its small size and standard quattro four-wheel drive system, this potent 296bhp 2.0 TFSI engine can sling-shot the SQ2 from 0-62mph in 4.9secs, making it very quick for a Sports SUV. It could sound a bit more exciting, though.
