The regular front-wheel drive RAV4 hybrid is the sweet spot in the range. It’s fairly ordinary to drive, but strong resale values, astounding economy and a fantastic reliability record make it a tempting option in the large SUV category.
The most potent RAV4 is the four-wheel drive 219bhp version that has a marginal performance advantage at 8.1sec 0-62mph, and a far better towing rating. The additional traction is useful in tricky conditions, too.
