The model
Read full Toyota Corolla reviewThe Toyota Corolla is a brilliant family car. It's comfortable, well made, well equipped and remarkably frugal in real-world driving. True, rear passenger space isn’t great, but as long as that flaw isn’t a dealbreaker for you, it's a fantastic buy. We recommend the 1.8-litre hybrid engine with Icon trim.
The trim
See full equipmentThis sporty trim level gets you more aggressive styling inside and out, including sports seats, red stitching on the steering wheel, 18in black alloys and a head-up display. It doesn't add a sportier driving experience, the ride is a little worse on the bigger wheels, and it's too pricey for us to recommend.
The engine
See full engine specsThe brawnier 193bhp 2.0-litre has you covered for overtaking, as is evident by the 7.5sec 0-62mph time. Even when your foot isn’t flat to the floor, its more powerful electric motor compared with the 1.8 makes it satisfyingly snappier to your demands in normal driving.
