What should I look for in a used Peugeot 308 estate?
Visibility is generally okay out of the 308 SW but it’s worth checking the front, rear and corners for scuffs and dents picked up in supermarket car parks, and check the alloy wheels for damage. It’s worth checking the operation of the folding split 60/40 rear seats and the rear tailgate. Some of the trim can be a little delicate so check for wear and tear inside, too.
What are the most common problems with a used Peugeot 308 estate?
The cooling system has been known to give problems in earlier 308 SWs, so it’s worth having a look at that closely before purchase. This can either not cool the engine properly or go into overdrive when this is not required.
Diesel models' diesel particulate filter (DPF) can also give problems, with a fault light appearing on the dashboard and the car refusing to start. Some owners also complain of manual gearbox problems, leaving the car stuck in neutral.
Electrical issues also crop up, so check all switches and controls work correctly.
