The model
Read full New Mercedes GLE reviewWith a smart interior, a wide range of engines and comfortable cruising manners, there’s plenty to like about the Mercedes GLE. The main issue is that there are rivals that are even more practical, comfortable or better to drive. The 300d makes the most sense, while company car drivers will do well with one of the PHEVs. You’ll need AMG Line Premium trim to get seven seats, otherwise we recommend Urban Edition.
The trim
See full equipmentThis mid-level trim adds a panoramic sunroof, exterior side steps, a third row of seats (for non-PHEV models), four-zone climate control and a head-up display.
The engine
See full engine specsThis is the entry-level diesel engine, using a 2.0-litre four-cylinder unit to produce 266bhp and 406lb ft of torque. That’s enough for a 0-62mph time of 6.9sec and a top speed of 143mph. All versions come with a nine-speed automatic gearbox.
