The model
Read full Lexus LC reviewThe Lexus LC has stunning looks inside and out, with an exquisitely built interior. Of the two versions available, the LC 500 V8 is the obvious pick, thanks to its thunderous engine and more agile handling. The hybrid LC 500h doesn’t offer enough of a financial incentive to make it the pick of the range, and doesn’t offer as much driving excitement, either. Overall, though, the LC doesn’t have the satisfying crispness of handling on offer from the best sports cars, nor the beautifully cosseting ride of the best grand tourers.
The trim
See full equipmentThis top-end version includes a variably geared steering rack that weights up according to speed, rear-wheel steering that helps the car turn in to corners better, and a limited-slip differential that helps transfer power to where it’s needed. A retractable rear spoiler also improves high-speed stability. For those intent on the sportiest LC possible, then this is the one to go for. But the entry-level trim still represents the best overall value.
The engine
See full engine specsThe V6 hybrid offers lower fuel bills than the V8, but it comes at the price of pace and drama. With almost nothing to separate the two by list price, the V8 makes more sense as it is superior in every department aside from fuel economy.
