The Kia Ceed Sportswagon is a decent estate car in lots of areas and has a very competitive starting price. However, it doesn't give us a compelling reason to recommend it over the better-handling Ford Focus Estate, the more practical Skoda Octavia Estate, the fuel-efficient Toyota Corolla Touring Sports or the more refined and comfortable VW Golf Estate.

Upgrading to 3 trim get you dual-zone climate control, rear parking sensors, privacy glass, power-folding door mirrors, an automatically dimming rear-view mirror, rain-sensing wipers and larger alloy wheels – on top of everything that's standard on entry-level 2 trim.

The only engine option is a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol with 138bhp and a 0-60mph time of 9.7 or 9.9 seconds, depending on whether you choose the quicker manual version or the optional auto gearbox.
