The Citroën C4 is too far behind its rivals to consider, despite its competitive pricing
What should I look for in a used Citroën C4 hatchback?
These C4s will have been used predominantly in urban areas, so check the bodywork for scuffs picked up in multi-storey car parks. It’s worth looking at the front of the car for any chips to the bodywork picked up on motorways, too, and the windscreen should be checked for cracks. Also make sure that wheel damage from kerbing isn’t too substantial.
What are the most common problems with a used Citroën C4 hatchback?
Over the course of its life, the C4 has been subject to a number of recalls, so it’s worth checking with your dealer that the car has been satisfactorily updated. Most problems seem to centre on the electrics, with faults to the air-con and sat-nav systems, although problems with the suspension and airbags have also surfaced.
Is a used Citroën C4 hatchback reliable?
The C4 has a mixed reliability record, usually finishing in the middle to bottom half of any surveys. Citroën as a brand finished in 28th place out of 32 manufacturers in our most recent reliability survey – a disappointing result.
