There’s an awful lot to like about the Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron. It’s a comfortable, classy choice with a good range if you opt for a 40 model. However, the regular Q4 is available with a big battery for far less and has a bit more rear head room to boot. If you’re not so worried about the emblem on the nose of your car, we’d urge you to look at the Skoda Enyaq as well, because it’s similar in a lot of respects.

The entry-level 35 has a single motor producing 168bhp and is rear-wheel drive, taking a yawning 9.0sec to get from 0-62mph. Its small battery means an official range of 211 miles, which isn’t particularly great either.
