Will concept car become the Jaguar XJR?
* 464bhp concept car unveiled at Pebble Beach * Could become high-performance XJ * Production output would exceed 500bhp...
Jaguar has unveiled a high-performance concept car version of its luxury XJ at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in California.
The XJ75 Platinum Concept commemorates the 75th anniversary of the brand and packs a 464bhp supercharged 5.0-litre V8 engine.
Finished in pearlescent white, the car has new front, side and rear sills, darkened exterior body trim rather than the bright chrome on the XJ and black 22-inch wheels.
The light and dark theme is continued in the cabin where white air vents, light veneers and 'diamond' stitching contrast with the black leather.
Although described as a 'one-off' it hasn't been confirmed whether the car will be transformed into an XJR production version. It wouldn't be difficult to engineer, however.
Considering the 503bhp output of the supercharged V8 engine in the existing Jaguar line-up, any production version of the concept car is likely to be more powerful.
