The 2014 Geneva motor show will play host to the launch of a number of new city cars. The Peugeot 108 and Renault Twingo have already broken cover. Both cars seat four and go on sale in the second half of the year.
If you need something before then and don't fancy buying new, you can find a great used city car for less than £5000. Here's our pick of the bunch from the What Car? Approved Used classifieds:
Citroen C1
There are loads of used Citroen C1s to choose from – and you can buy one with three or five doors. We found this 1.0i VTR 3dr on an 11-plate with just 13,400 miles on the clock in the What Car? classifieds. It comes with air-conditioning, electric windows and a CD player, and is yours for £4980.
Fiat Panda
The Fiat Panda is a five-door city car that's available with four or five seats depending on specification. This 60-plate 1.2 Active has electric front windows and a CD player and has done 17,000 miles. It's up for £4288.
Hyundai i10
Hyundai's previous i10 came with five doors and five seats as standard. It also came with a five-year warranty so used examples should be in good condition. This 1.2 Classic has air-conditioning and a CD player. It's a 2009 car that's done 34,000 and comes in just under budget at £4995.
Renault Twingo
This version of the second-generation Renault Twingo is the cheapest car in the list. It's a '10/59 1.2 Freeway with a CD player and electric front windows, with 32,000 miles on the clock. You can pick it up for £3788.
