UK should have speed-limiting cars

Britain's cars should have speed-limiters fitted in an effort to save lives and cut carbon emissions.
That's the view of the government's transport advisers, who say the technology would cut road accidents by a third.
The Commission for Integrated Transport and the Motorists' Forum concede that speed-limiting devices would have little benefit in reducing CO2 emissions on roads with speed limits of less than 60mph, but CO2 reductions of around 6% could be achievable on UK motorways.
The speed-limiting devices would be fitted on a voluntary basis and, via a system of satellites, would automatically slow a car down to within the limit for the road on which it is being driven.
