Toyota to recall Prius and Auris hybrids due to stall risk
Toyota recall affects 55,519 hybrid cars in the UK. Here's what you need to know...
Toyota is recalling 55,519 hybrid cars in the UK as part of a 2.4 million-car global recall over concerns that a software glitch could cause the vehicles to stall.
Auris, Prius and Prius+ hybrid cars with the 1.8-litre engine, built between October 2008 and November 2014, are affected.
Should the glitch occur, there is a risk the affected cars could lose power and stall, although functions such as the power steering, brakes and lights would still work.
Toyota says that there are no recorded cases of this happening, but has issued the recall on safety grounds.
It is estimated a fix will take around 40 minutes at a dealership, with the cars requiring a software update.
