The car parts most likely to fail

The top 10 car parts most likely to wear out have been revealed by a new survey from Warranty Direct.

Suspension arms top the list of least reliable car components, in the survey that also reveals that one in three repairs to cars aged between three and seven years old will be down to wear-related failure.

The survey also found that the average repair cost for worn out suspension arms was 230.60, while the second-most vulnerable part was ball joints, with an average repair bill of 223.80.

The most expensive item on list was automatic gearboxes, with an average repair cost of 1378.65. Fortunately for auto owners, such failures were at a mildly reassuring number 10 in the list.

Small increase in repair bills
Warranty Direct also found that average repair bill costs for all parts came out at 358, compared with 357 for 2009.
