When your work involves spending hours every day cruising the motorways and A roads of Britain, a normal test drive simply isn’t going to tell you if a new car will meet your needs.
To find out whether a new car is really right for you, you need to live with it for a prolonged period of time. So, Nissan offered to give a number of What Car? readers the chance to live with the Qashqai for seven days. The volunteers selected recorded their honest experiences of the car in a video diary using an iPad, and the resulting videos reflect their opinions.
John Jenkins, from Swansea, Glamorgan, currently drives an Audi Q3, and has a job that involves spending as much as nine hours a day on the road. He’s considering a new car in the near future, and was keen to evaluate how the Qashqai would fit into his daily life.
John was impressed with the level of technology fitted to the Qashqai, particularly the traffic sign warning system and 360-degree AVM reversing camera. Most of all, he was happy with the comfort that the car offered. “My car for me is a mobile office,” said John. “In the Qashqai I really do feel as if I’m sitting in my armchair at home.”
So how impressed was John after seven days? “I actually phoned up Nissan and asked if I could buy the car,” he said.
