Porsche has revealed the new 911 Carrera GTS.
The GTS edition of the previous 911 was a sign-off model at the end of the car's life, but Porsche has since started rolling out GTS versions across the range (Boxster, Cayenne and Cayman), so the latest 911 gets it much earlier in its life. The new 911 Carrera GTS models is being offered as a coupe and a cabriolet, and with either rear- or four-wheel drive, and a seven-speed manual or a dual-clutch PDK transmission.
The engine is tuned to develop 430bhp, a 30bhp leap over the standard car, although this hike is also available on standard Carrera S models as an option. Porsche claims GTSs fitted with the double-clutch automatic gearbox can sprint from 62mph in 4.0 seconds, with standard seven-speed manual cars capable of hitting 198mph.
This, combined with wider track, dynamic engine mounts and Porsche active suspension system, promise a sharper drive than the already-impressive standard car. Four-wheel-drive models get Porsche Traction Management (PTM) traction control system as standard.
Externally, there are a few differences from the standard Carrera S, such as flared rear wheelarches and black-painted 20in wheels. Smoked xenon headlamps with adaptive lighting, black chrome exhaust trims plus GTS stripes and detailing on the nose and engine cover mark out the car as different from standard. The Alcantara and leather interior trim is also unique to GTS models.
