Paris motor show 2016 - the star cars
Audi Q5
While the styling of the new Audi Q5 SUV is best described as conservative, the same can't be said of its technology. Buyers get the option of front-wheel drive for the first time, as well as clever air suspension borrowed from the larger Q7. The Q5 is closely related to our current Car of the Year, the Audi A4, underneath, so expect it to drive very well. The Q5 will likely cost from around £35,000.
BMW already has two coupé-styled SUVs in the X4 and X6, but will add another to its range in mid-2018 with the X2. It's based on the smaller X1, and aims to offer buyers a sporty alternative to the likes of the Mercedes GLC Coupé. Some of the more radical design elements of the X2 concept will be lost on the production car, which is expected to cost from around £30,000.
Citroën C3
The most obvious styling additions to Citroën's new C3 are the car's so-called 'Airbumps' - air pockets designed to protect it from supermarket trolleys and the like - borrowed from the larger C4 Cactus. Citroën is promising that the C3 will be one of the quietest superminis around - and we think it could tempt potential Ford Fiesta and Vauxhall Corsa buyers. Prices have yet to be announced ahead of the C3's launch next month, but expect it to cost between the current C3, which costs from £11,580, and the DS3, which is priced from £14,395.
Dacia Sandero, Sandero Stepway and Logan
The Dacia Sandero - and its Sandero Stepway and Logan MCV siblings - are some of the cheapest cars available in the UK, but that doesn't mean they have to feel cheap. These facelifted versions go on sale early next year, with styling upgrades and the option of a new 1.0-litre petrol engine. There are extra paint colour and alloy wheel options, too, as well are more interior equipment across the range.
