Nissan Murano considered for 2015 UK launch
* Large SUV 50:50 to join Juke and Qashqai * Would be sold with hybrid powertrain * Decision due early 2015...
The new Nissan Murano could be launched in the UK in 2015, with company insiders rating the large SUVs chance of joining the Nissan Juke and Nissan Qashqai in its line-up as 50:50.
The new Murano follows similar themes to the other Nissan SUVs in offering an upmarket interior and high standard of kit in order to attract buyers. Its makers describe its interior as a ‘social lounge’ which is said to create a 'comfortable and inviting' space.
In addition, the number of dashboard switches has been reduced by 60% from the previous-generation car, and the instrument panel is mounted lower to increase interior space.
Buyers can also spec a large panoramic roof, dubbed ‘moon roof’ to ensure the cabin is bathed in light.
If the car comes to the UK, it would be sold with a hybrid powertrain, linking a four-cylinder petrol engine with an electric motor and lithium-ion battery pack. A diesel powertrain suitable for European sale is not available.
Prices are expected to start around £40,000.
