New range-topping versions of the Volvo S90 and V90 have been revealed, and will go on sale early next year.
The S90 and V90 R-Design models are designed to be performance-oriented, and come with a modified chassis, which is claimed to deliver a sportier, more energetic driving experience.
Both cars receive a new front-end design, including a unique front grille and new alloy wheels, while inside the R-Design models get unique trim, new sports seats and a special steering wheel.
Although Volvo has yet to announce how much the R-Design models will cost, we expect them to command a significant premium over the rest of the S90 and V90 range, which currently starts at £32,555 and £34,555 respectively.
A price of around £38,500 for the S90 R-Design, and around £40,500 for the V90 R-Design is likely.
Both the S90 and V90 have been well received, although for now we’ve only driven both cars abroad, not in the UK. The S90 impresses with its luxurious cabin and engine refinement, and it’s a genuine rival for the likes of the Jaguar XF, Audi A6, BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class. The V90, meanwhile, majors on practicality and comes with a colossal boot.
