New Insignia VXR Sports Tourer
* Fastest-ever Vauxhall estate * 0-60mph in just 6.0 seconds * 1530-litre load capacity...
Vauxhall has confirmed its Insignia range will be boosted by the launch of the company's fastest-ever estate car, the VXR Sports Tourer.
Like its saloon and hatchback siblings, the VXR Sports Tourer sits 10 millimetres lower than the standard vehicle. It also gets Vauxhall's HiPerStrut system, which reduces the engine's effect on the steering and improves cornering in the wet and dry.
The new model gets an aggressive look with 19-inch alloy wheels and Brembo brakes with coloured calipers and vented/cross-drilled discs. Deeper bumpers, front mesh grilles and dual matt chrome exhausts complete the visual makeover.
The car's racey credentials are more than just cosmetic too, with power generated by a 321bhp 2.8-litre turbocharged V6 engine. This rockets the VXR from 0-60mph in just 6.0 seconds and on to a limited top speed of 155mph.
The sporty theme is continued in the cabin with front Recaro seats, VXR steering wheel and gearknob, VXR branded sill plates, and black lining.
Despite the sport styling, the VXR scores well for versatility, too. It offers 540 litres of load space with the 40:60 split rear-seats up and 1530 litres when they're folded down.
Vauxhall will reveal prices when the car goes on sale in the autumn, but it is expected to cost around 31,500 1400 more than the saloon and hatch.
