The all-new 2015 Ford Mustang is available to order now, with a choice of two engines and two bodystyles. Prices start at £28,995 for the 310bhp coupe...
This is the all-new 2015 Ford Mustang. The famous American muscle car is available in right-hand drive for the first time, with deliveries beginning this autumn.
What is it?
The 2015 Ford Mustang is now available to order in the UK. It is available in both coupe and convertible bodystyles, and comes with a choice of manual and automatic transmissions.
Being polished for European tastes has meant a lot of changes, and quality has been greatly improved over the outgoing version. There’s also a far more sophisticated rear suspension instead of the cruder set-ups we’ve seen before.
Mind you, it still keeps the faith in lots of ways. It is wider, sleeker and lower than the outgoing model but both the coupe and convertible keep US-style proportions.
What engines does the Mustang get?
There's a choice of two engines in the Mustang: a 310bhp 2.3-litre Ecoboost petrol and a 412bhp 5.0-litre V8. The 2.3-litre engine has CO2 emissions of 179g/km and an official fuel economy of 35.3mpg. It goes from 0-62mph in 5.8 seconds and has a limited top speed of 155mph.
Alongside the new four-cylinder engine there’s an uprated version of the venerable 5.0-litre V8 with 412bhp. It gets to 62mph in 4.8sec, although there are plans to offer a faster version with around 500bhp in the next 18 months or so.
Extreme Mustang GT350 and Shelby GT350R models will be offered for sale in the US, but will not be sold in right-hand drive in Britain.
What equipment does the Mustang come with?
Standard kit in the UK includes 19in alloys wheels, a performance brake package, xenon headlights, LED tail lights and a rear diffuser. Inside, there is dual-zone climate control and Ford's latest Sync2 infotainment system with an 8.0in screen and nine speakers.
There are 10 colours to choose from, including a yellow and orange that are bespoke to the Mustang, while the options list includes climate control and upgraded seats.
How much does it cost?
The entry-level model starts at £28,995, while the V8 models start at £32,995. The automatic gearbox adds £1500 to the price, while the convertible adds £4000 to the cost of the coupe.
Can I get a discount?
There are generous discounts over the majority of the Ford range, but this might not apply to the Mustang initially. Demand is expected to be strong to start off with, and anyone hoping to get some savings will have to wait for a while.
