Mazda's high-tech, low-cost catalyst
* Catalytic converter cuts use of precious metals by 70% * New Mazda 3 will feature cost-saving feature * Converters will be less attractive to thieves, too...
Mazda has created a new, low-cost catalytic converter that will be fitted to its new Mazda 3 hatchback and saloon later this year.
The converter uses 70% fewer precious metals than a standard unit, making it considerably cheaper to manufacturer and far less attractive to thieves.
Mazda says it will gradually introduce the new technology to all of its model ranges as supply becomes available.
