Leeds ring road completed
* 50 million project complete * Aims to ease congestion * Ring road construction began in 1970s...
Leeds' 50m inner ring road is now fully open.
The road, which has been under construction since May 2006, is intended to ease congestion in the city centre and the Holbeck and Hunslet areas.
Construction of the inner ring road began in the 1970s and has been divided into seven stages. This is the final stage.
Another new road, the East Link ring road, is due to open in December. It will connect the inner ring road with the M1 motorway.
