Frugal cars star in this week's deals
* Economical hatchbacks with money-saving deals * Big money off diesel hatches * Avoid the Black Friday crush...
There is little benefit in snapping up a great deal on a new car if you are then going to spend vast amounts on running it over the coming years.
The highlights of the deals that we have found in this week's round-up mean that you can get a brand new car at a good price, but then keep running costs in check.
One car that represents fantastic value for money is the Skoda Octavia, while we've also got savings on economical versions of the Audi A3, Mercedes E-Class and the Citroen DS3.
The Skoda Octavia on this week's list is the 1.6-litre diesel in Greenline trim, which has an official average fuel economy of 88.3mpg and emits 85g/km of CO2 - this is the Octavia to buy if running costs are your priority.
If you head to Carfile.net you can save a hefty chunk off the list price, too, with the £2773 discount taking the price down to £17,527.
If you fancy a slightly more upmarket interior, you can get the same engine in the Audi A3 hatchback, but in Sport trim. This deal is available at Orangewheels.co.uk and means you can save £2590, which takes the price down to £19,635.
We found a saving on a Citroen DS3 on Drivethedeal.com which allows you to have the small Citroen's looks, but the economy of a diesel engine. The 1.6 e-HDI 90 DStyle model has a £1684 saving, with the final price working out at £14,136.
If diesel isn't your thing, then we'd take a look elsewhere on Drivethedeal.com, as we found a decent £8000 saving on the Mercedes-Benz E-Class saloon. This deal is on the hybrid model, which is the version we reckon is the pick of the range, thanks to a 109g/km CO2 rating and an average fuel economy of 68.9mpg. The saving takes the price down to £31,880.
