Ford introduces Mondeo Econetic Titanium
* Lower emissions with more equipment * 150 more expensive than 2.0 TDCi Titanium * Average economy of 54.3mpg - and 139g/km...
Ford has launched a new range-topping version of its Mondeo Econetic, combining the car's CO2-reducing technology with plush Titanium trim.
Until now, the Mondeo Econetic has been a stand-alone model in the range, available with either 1.8 or 2.0-litre TDCi diesel engines, but the new Econetic Titanium combines the existing 2.0-litre engine with more creature comforts.
Power comes from a 115bhp 2.0-litre engine, tuned to deliver an average of 54.3mpg. The Econetic Titanium also gets lowered suspension to improve aerodynamics, low-friction tyres on either 16-inch or (optional) 17-inch alloy wheels, and a gearshift indicator to help drivers to choose the most economical gear.
Ford claims that both five-door hatchback and estate versions emit just 139g/km of CO2, translating into band 'E' road tax of 120 a year. Economy and emissions figures are identical to those of the standard Econetic, despite the Titanium's extra kit.
Standard equipment is the same as in the standard Titanium model, meaning automatic headlamps and wipers, a six-disc CD multichanger, auto-dimming rear-view mirror and a central display screen between the speedometer and rev counter.
Strong appeal for fleet customers
Both hatchback and estate versions of the Econetic Titanium cost 150 more than the existing 2.0 TDCi Titanium models. Ford says that the lower cost of ownership will ensure they appeal to fleet customers.
Despite the new models, the company has no plans to offer Econetic versions of any other cars in the Mondeo range.
