Deal of the Day: Mercedes-Benz C-Class
Save more than £4000 on the Mercedes-Benz C220d Sport auto...
The Mercedes-Benz C-Class is comfortable, classy and efficient and, in this spec, a decent buy. Only a few minor niggles, such as its noisy diesel engine, keep it from pipping the Audi A3 saloon.

The interior of the Mercedes is its best feature. Sport trim adds kit such as Parktronic with Active Park Assist, heated front seats, split-folding rear seats and a Garmin sat-nav.
One of the C-Class's strong points is safety. With collision-prevention braking, seven airbags and tyre-pressure monitoring as standard there is no shortage of kit to ensure everyone arrives in one piece.
Boot space matches the best in the class while Sport spec boosts practicality by providing split-folding rear seats that lie completely flat when folded down.
Against
Across the C-Class range engine refinement isn't the best in the segment, but at least this C220d produces 167bhp for stress-free overtaking. Its CO2 emissions of 104g/km are impressively low, too, meaning you'll pay less tax.
The C-Class's standard suspension does not perform as it should on the motorway, so the air suspension (an £895 option) is worth adding. In Sport mode it also rewards spirited driving on twisty roads.
Should I add any options?
The Airmatic suspension is a further £895 but irons out the problems posed by the standard set-up. The upgrade from man-made to real leather is £795, while metallic paint will set you back £645.
