Want to buy a small SUV that’s big on interior quality? You won’t be disappointed by the EX30. In fact, Volvo’s dinkiest model feels more upmarket inside than many larger SUVs – especially if you go for rangetopping Ultra trim.

Don’t get us wrong: you’ll still get a classy interior if you choose one of the cheaper trims, but Ultra opens up a greater choice of materials and colour schemes, including grey or green wool blend seats and a flax dashboard (our personal favourite combo).

Those materials not only look and feel expensive but are also sustainably sourced. That means you can enjoy your lavish surroundings without any pangs of guilt – especially when you remember that you’re driving an electric car with no tailpipe pumping out nasty emissions.

The EX30’s interior isn’t just made with classy materials, either; it’s also assembled  with superb attention to detail. Every fixture and fitting feels rock solid and made to last. So, while this isn’t the cheapest small electric SUV out there, it really does feel its worth inside with an interior that has the edge over those in the Smart #1 and Mini Aceman.
