Car of the Year Awards 2025: Best small electric SUV for value
Small electric SUVs should provide everyday usability and the capability to travel far on a single charge. But the best need to up the game with a great interior and user friendly tech, too...
Jeep Avenger Electric Longitude
The Jeep Avenger has always been a decent choice in this class, even if it didn’t quite live up to its punchy price. But that’s now changed, because a near-£5000 price cut across the range has made Jeep’s smallest SUV great value.
To keep the price below £30,000 (or £380 a month on a typical PCP finance deal), you’ll want to go for entry-level Longitude trim. Fortunately, that doesn’t mean putting up with a meagre specification, because it comes with automatic air conditioning, cruise control and rear parking sensors, plus a 10.25in touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone mirroring.
Rear space is fairly tight, even by class standards, and plenty of rivals can travel farther on a charge – but then they cost more to buy. Indeed, the Avenger Electric undercuts the Kia EV3 by £3000 and the closely related Peugeot e-2008 by an even bigger margin.
The Avenger is even surprisingly competent off road, with more ground clearance than most rivals and shorter front and rear overhangs. There are also various driving modes that allow you to tailor the traction control system for different types of terrain.
