The Range Rover needs little introduction as a superlative luxury SUV, but the Range Rover Sport distills this magic into a smaller, better-value package.
And in the case of the P550e Autobiography, those strengths are combined with sensational comfort and quiet cruising, thanks to its near-silent running in electric mode. You’ll be enjoying that for a long time, too, because the P550e, along with the slightly less potent P460e, can officially cover up to 72 miles on electric power alone – a figure that’s among the best of any PHEV.
As a Range Rover, the Sport is extremely capable off road. And while the BMW X5 xDrive50e is more agile on it, the Sport is more comfortable. For a car like this, that’s a very acceptable trade-off. Rear head room aside, the Sport wants for nothing when it comes to space for five, and the range-topping Autobiography has as much kit as you could reasonably want, including brilliant 22-way adjustable electric seats.
Of course, the Range Rover Sport is far pricier to buy and run than the MG HS, but its combination of tax-friendliness and luxury is hard to resist.
