Porsche Taycan RWD (Performance Battery Plus)

Five years on from launch, the Porsche Taycan remains the dominant force in the electric performance car world.

That’s thanks in part to a mid-life upgrade in 2024 that brought bigger, more efficient batteries, boosting range significantly. Officially, the entry-level rearwheel-drive (RWD) Taycan can now cover 367 miles between top-ups, or an impressive 422 miles with the optional 97kWh (usable) Performance Battery Plus added.

And trust us, you’ll want that battery. Because with its grand tourer credentials, the Taycan is the sort of car that begs you to take the long way home – or, you know, drive across a continent for fun.

With air suspension now standard across the line-up, handling and comfort are better than ever. The Taycan glides like a limo yet still carves through corners with more precision and finesse than any of its electric rivals.

Although it’s not as thrilling or practical as our overall category winner, the Taycan is so good in this RWD guise that there’s little reason to go for a pricier version. In part, that’s because of its superior range, but also because it’s easily fast enough to remind you that it’s a proper Porsche.
