Car of the Year Awards 2025: Best coupé and convertible for luxury
The best coupé and convertibles offer more than just eye-catching looks. We’re looking for cars that deliver an enjoyable driving experience, a practical interior and good value...
Bentley Continental GT Speed
The BMW 4 Series delivers its best on the open road. The Fiat 500e Convertible is in its element when you’re catching rays in urban traffic. The Bentley Continental GT, though, doesn’t have to go anywhere or do anything. Even when it’s standing still, to sit in it is to experience a sense of occasion that’s out of this world.
The way it looks, the way it feels, the aroma of its leather, the sound of its fantastic (albeit optional) Naim audio system... we haven’t yet licked the Continental GT, but it’s probably just as much of a treat for the tastebuds as it is for the other senses. And that’s before you start the engine: a twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 plug-in hybrid with a whopping 771bhp on tap.
Accelerating from 0-62mph in 3.2sec in such an opulent, substantial machine is a surreal experience, and another example of how the Continental GT is like nothing else on the road. Perhaps even more extraordinary, though, is how hungrily this smooth-riding coupé devours corners; It even has a playful side.
The Continental GT is more than four times the price of the BMW 420i, but if you have the means, it’s a great choice.
