Audi TT Sportback concept shown at Paris show

The Audi TT Sportback has been revealed at the Paris motor show, and is the third concept based around the new version of the TT.

The TT Sportback concept is a five-door version of the latest version of the popular TT coupe, and follows on from the TT Allroad Shooting Brake and the TT Offroad that were shown at the Detroit and Beijing motor shows earlier in 2014.

The TT concept on the Paris stand is a four-seater version, which is notably larger than the standard TT coupe that goes on sale this October. It is 29cm longer, 6cm wider and has a wheelbase that is 12cm longer than the three-door TT coupe, although it is 3cm lower.

This extra length means there is room to fit in two full-size rear doors and two individual rear seats. All four of the doors are frameless, as on the TT coupe.

The two rear seats are separated by a storage compartment and an armrest can also be folded down to boost the space in the boot. The boot is 350 litres with the seats up, and this rises to 859 litres when the seats are dropped. This is larger than the TT Coupe by 45 litres seats up and 147 litres with them down.

Elsewhere, the TT Sportback is similar to the coupe version, with similar front end styling, the new LED lights from the production car as well as the new virtual cockpit. This virtual cockpit is a digital readout, which replaces the usual physical displays and boasts a 12.3-inch monitor.

The car on the stand features a 395bhp 2.0-litre petrol engine, which is capable of 0-62mph in 3.9 seconds, 40.4mpg and emissions of 162g/km. It is significantly more powerful than the engine in the TTS, which produces 307bhp and is one second slower to 62mph.

There is no word on whether the TT Sportback will go into production yet.
