2018 Paris motor show – all the star cars
An all-electric Mercedes SUV, Peugeot's new estate and Skoda's future family hatchback – these are the star cars on display at the Paris motor show...
BMW 3 Series
BMW's new executive car is undoubtedly the star attraction at this year's Paris show. It features more space for passengers, a range of efficient engines and a high-quality, tech-filled interior to better challenge the Audi A4.

BMW X5
BMW is renewing its assault on the luxury SUV market with its latest X5, which has the Audi Q7 and Volvo XC90 firmly in its sights. To help it stand out, this X5 features the largest grille ever seen on a production BMW, and it's grown elsewhere, too – in fact, it's larger in almost every dimension than its predecessor. Its boot isn't larger, but space for rear passengers has increased.

BMW i3
The i3 is a tempting electric car that offers premium zero-emissions transport and futuristic looks. You'll just have to live with its impractical rear door arrangement. BMW has again upgraded the i3's battery pack to offer 34 miles of extra range, meaning it can now travel for up to 193 miles between charges. The sporty i3s, meanwhile, can do up to 177 miles. Both of those figures have been tested under the stricter new WLTP regulations, too, so should be more representative of what's actually achievable in reality.
Small, premium SUVs are big business, which is why DS is taking on the Audi Q2 with its new 3 Crossback. Built on a new platform that will eventually be widely used across the Citroën, DS, Peugeot and Vauxhall brands, the 3 Crossback has a heavy focus on personalisation. Buyers can choose from 10 wheel styles, 10 body colour and three roof colours to ensure that their car stands out. Power options include petrol engines and an electric E-Tense version with a range of around 200 miles.
