2018 Mini 1499 GT review - verdict
Special edition Mini 1499 GT puts sporty touches on a basic three-door Mini. It's not fast, but it's very good fun...
It’s fair to say the Mini 1499 GT won’t be for everyone. Its firm ride, rev-hungry engine and limited practicality will grate on some, but that’s missing the point of this car.
That it allows young drivers a taste of what makes a hot hatch such a wonderful thing without the big bills that go with it is something to be celebrated. After all, for less than £300 a month you get the car, servicing and even the first year's insurance.
Here’s a car that is huge fun in the bends, has just enough performance and is remarkably affordable. If that sounds like your cup of tea, act quickly as there’s only 1499 of them being made, and once they're gone, they're gone.
