2016 Renault Megane Sport Tourer unveiled
New estate version of the Renault Megane will reach the UK this autumn...
The Renault Megane Sport Tourer, an estate car version of the Megane hatchback, will go on sale in the UK this autumn following its debut at the Geneva motor show next month.
The new Megane Sport Tourer range will be crowned by a sporty GT model at launch, which receives unique styling elements from Renault Sport, including more aggressive front and rear bumpers and a chromed exhaust.
While the Sport Tourer looks similar to the Megane hatchback from the front, its stretched rear end features a boot that Renault says should provide class-leading space.
Engines for the Megane Sport Tourer will be borrowed from the rest of the Megane range, with power outputs starting at 89bhp. For this GT model, however, power will come from either a 202bhp petrol engine or a 163bhp diesel. Both engines are coupled to a dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
When it goes on sale, the Renault Megane Sport Tourer will rival estate versions of the Ford Focus, Vauxhall Astra and VW Golf.
Prices for the Megane Sport Tourer aren't expected to rise too much on those of today's car, so expect the new model to cost around £18,500.
