Plush open-top version of the S-Class is available to order now, priced from £110,120...
Pricing has been revealed for the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet, which is available to order now.
What is it?
This cabriolet variant is the sixth and final model to come as part of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class family, and joins the existing saloon, coupé, and performance-oriented Mercedes-AMG variants in the range.
Described as the first four-seat luxury drop-top model to come from Mercedes since the 112 series - which ended production in 1971 - the S-Class Cabriolet is billed as a rival to the likes of the Bentley Continental Convertible.
The cabriolet shares many of its styling features with the S-Class Coupé, including its front-end design and LED headlights. It features a fabric roof which can be opened or closed in 20 seconds, at speeds of up to 37mph.
What engines can I choose from?
The S-Class Cabriolet will be available with three engines, including a 449bhp twin-turbocharged 4.7-litre V8 in the S500, with CO2 emissions of 204g/km.
There's also a 577bhp twin-turbocharged 5.5-litre V8 S63 version, which comes with four-wheel drive, and emits 237g/km of CO2.
The 621bhp twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre V12 S65 AMG crowns the range, with a claimed 0-62mph time of 4.1sec and CO2 emissions of 272g/km.
How much equipment does it come with?
As with other S-Class models, the Cabriolet is luxuriously equipped and comes with a fully digital instrument cluster, with a separate infotainment screen controlled via a touch-sensitive dial on the centre console.
Standard equipment includes carbon ceramic brakes, air-suspension, 19in alloys, LED headlights, sat-nav, heated front and rear seats and a leather interior, while stepping up to the S63 adds more AMG bodykit, an upgraded sound system and an AMG sports exhaust system. The range-topping S65 adds 20in alloys and a heated steering wheel.
How much will it cost?
The S500 costs £110,120, while the mid-range S63 is priced from £135,675 and the S65 comes in at £192,805.
How good are its rivals?
The S-Class Cabriolet will face competition from the likes of the Bentley Continental GT convertible, which currently holds a four-star rating on What Car? The S-Class Cabriolet's sister car, the S-Class Coupé, also gets four stars.
