2015 Volvo S60 Cross Country - engine information, on-sale date and rivals to beat
Volvo's latest Cross Country model combines the looks of a saloon with the ride height of an SUV...
Volvo will launch an S60 Cross Country in the UK this summer.
What is it?
The S60 Cross Country is Volvo's first saloon to get the Cross Country treatment. The ride height has been raised 6.5cm and it will be offered with four-wheel drive.
Volvo is aiming the S60 Cross Country at buyers wanting the increased ride height of an SUV but with a four-door saloon body.
What engines can I choose from?
Two engines will be available in the UK. The first is a 187bhp 2.0-litre diesel D4 with front-wheel drive. This combination is currently available in the Volvo V40, where it returns impressive fuel economy figures of 74.3mpg while emitting 99g/km of CO2. As yet there are no official figures for the S60 Cross Country.
Buyers looking for four-wheel drive get a 178bhp 2.4-litre diesel D4 engine.
How much equipment does it come with?
Trim levels for the S60 Cross Country haven't been revealed but the standard S60 is generously equipped so we expect the new model to come with alloy wheels, cruise control, climate control and a host of safety equipment.
How much will it cost?
Prices will be announced nearer the cars launch in the UK in the summer.
Can I get a discount?
Our Target Price team has found that the average available discount across the entire Volvo range is 15.4%, which suggests that hefty discounts should be available once the S60 Cross Country comes to market.
How good are its rivals?
If you're looking for an executive saloon car with a raised ride height, the S60 Cross Country is the only one to go for. However, there's more choice is you're after an executive saloon with four-wheel drive. Audi and BMW offer 4WD on their exec rivals, the A3 Saloon and 3 Series, and both beat the standard Volvo S60, so the Cross Country model has its work cut out.
